Five injured, three critically; Neptune man charged

EATONTOWN – A 25-year-old Neptune man driving a Mercedes Benz crossed the center median on Route 35 and hit a Ford Explorer head-on, police said.

The crash injured five people, three critically. For tips on what to do following an accident, scroll to the video above.

A 48-year-old Shrewsbury woman driving the Explorer and the 14-year-old girl with her were critically injured in the Monday accident, Detective Sgt. Aaron Shaw said in a statement Wednesday. They are expected to survive, Shaw said.

A 22 year-old man from Neptune, who was a rear-seat passenger in the Mercedes Benz, also suffered critical injuries and is expected to survive, Shaw said.

A 29-year-old Neptune woman, a front-seat passenger in the Mercedes, suffered serious injuries, he said. Serious injuries are less severe than critical

Medics rushed the four victims to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

The Shrewsbury woman suffered life-threatening injuries but is now listed in critical but stable condition, Shaw said.

The man driving the Mercedes Benz, Vincent White Jr., was charged with possession of narcotics  and driving with a suspended license while being involved in a crash causing serious injuries.

White also drew motor vehicle summonses alleging careless driving, driving with a suspended license, driving without a license and operating a motor vehicle while in possession of narcotics.

White was released on a summons to appear in court.

White suffered minor injuries, Shaw said.

The Eatontown Police Department is urging anyone with information on the accident to call Detective Jorge Gonzalez at 732-389-7628 or Traffic Safety Officer Christopher Bartlett at 732-389-7830.

  1. Disgraceful, he goes home on a summons with those charges and a mom and her daughter go to the hospital… Thank you state of NJ for bail reform
